Time to unlock innovation in Merseyside
Written by Dreamscape Solutions Creative Director; Bernard McCabe, the following is an article written by request for the Liverpool Daily Post. There is no uncertainty in my mind that the investment dispensed into Merseyside has served to successfully relocate the business community into modern, more suitable surroundings. In fact, Merseyside can proudly boast that’s its commercial communications systems are amongst the most contemporary in Europe.
My doubt and hesitation lies with the underlying ICT support and guidance infrastructure. You could point your finger at half a dozen government funded agencies and pose the question “Are you taking full responsibility of the IT revolution in this city?” No doubt a quivering lip might say “We’re waiting for guidelines from head office” ~ Pathetic.
So who really is going to lead this city onto the ICT highway? Most businesses have been told they need data cabling to ‘get online’, I would hazard a guess that Merseyside is the worlds leading supplier of office cabling. Don’t get me wrong, it’s true to say that it’s an important step to a successful future. The problem is guiding businesses and entrepreneurs on how to unlock the potential that can be found in all this cabling.
Merseyside needs guidance. Merseyside needs to now invest in e-Consultancy services, web businesses and technology experts. Some one needs to help this city take the web by the scruff of the neck and put a large Merseyside flag on it. Merseyside might well have excellent road, rail, sea and aircraft routes in and out, but at the moment it’s simply a dead end on the web.

North West company’s website aims to be largest independent football fans’ online UK resource
INTERNET specialists
Dreamscape Solutions’
Vital Football is on the way to becoming amongst the most popular of independent fans’ websites in the UK.
The site, launched in January this year by the North West based outfit, now attracts over one million unique visitors per month. The number of football surfers is growing – in the first ten days of April half a million visitors were registered.
Vital Football aims to give supporters an independent voice.
The site enables supporters to contribute their views and articles free of outside control. Fans can contribute once they register for a free account. Each club’s portal has an editorial team to ensure fresh debate is quickly posted and forums are moderated.
Every English and Scottish league team is represented. Surprisingly Nottingham Forest, Rotherham and Swansea are in the top ten for having the biggest following. Gretna, current Scottish Cup finalists, has some of the most active club fans for it’s size - the population of the village does not pass 3,000 – but receives 6,000 unique visitors each month.
Manchester City and Spurs are featured amongst the most popular Premiership teams. Manchester United does not currently feature in the top ten. Dreamscape is looking to launch breakaway FC United pages shortly, which will make it the only non-league team to be represented.
Vital Football attracts many contributors and surfers from overseas. 20% of all traffic is from abroad. Scandinavia and English speaking countries are well represented. However, fans from as far and wide as Kenya, Dubai and Thailand are actively involved.
Long suffering Stockport County supporter and Technical Director Andy Carson:
“Vital Football is a show case for Dreamscape’s technical ability. Our main clients are in areas such as recruitment and insurance. This gives us an opportunity to show what we can do to a large and diverse audience.”Lifelong Evertonian and Creative Director Bernard McCabe:
“We wanted to place football back where it belongs –with the supporters. The clubs, betting companies and the media, control much of the online information fans receive. We wanted to challenge that.”
