Digital media company supplies technological knowledge in drive against AIDS

Dreamscape Solutions is at the heart of a new initiative to treat HIV patients.

The Manchester based creative digital media company will be working closely with Liverpool HIV Pharmacology Group (LHPG), which is at the forefront of research into the pharmacology of anti-retroviral drugs.

The LHPG, part of Liverpool University’s School of Biomedical Science, is using Dreamscape Solutions’ expertise to digitally deliver essential information about prescribing drugs to medics and pharmacists treating HIV patients via PDAs.

PDAs (personal digital assistants) are hand-held computers that are becoming more versatile and adept at carrying data. In 2006, the overall PDA market grew significantly by over 18% according to technology research group, Gartner. This is making the technology much more affordable and will help roll out the programme across the UK.

The vital drug information will be accessed remotely by doctors, enabling them to make decisions with greater speed and flexibility. Medical professionals will no longer have to access computers or laptops to access data; a process that added as much as 10 minutes to finding the requested information.

Pharmacists and medics will be able to check that courses of drug treatment do not conflict with current prescriptions.

This latest project for Dreamscape Solutions has come through the recommendation of e-healthcare specialists Thomson eMed-Media, which is part of the pharmaceutical Gardiner-Caldwell Group. The Macclesfield based company has had a similar project delivered successfully by Dreamscape Solutions earlier this year.

Professor David Back, head of LHPG, comments: “PDA technology will help enable us to work more effectively and with greater flexibility. I am sure its impact on how medical practitioners and pharmacologists deliver prescriptive drug treatment will be highly beneficial.”

Bernard MacCabe, managing director of Dreamscape Solutions, comments: “In my experience it is unprecedented for a digital media company to supply such a high level solution for the medical sector.”

McCabe continues: “PDA technology is a real technology growth area. We have the skills and experience in place to make this a central foundation from which we will grow our business.”

It’s a family affair double win for Manchester Internet agency Dreamscape Solutions

DREAMSCAPE SOLUTIONS has made the latest batch of account wins something of a family affair.

The creative digital media company has won the contract to promote Gentry Grooming run by husband and wife team Matthew and Adele Lock as well as her parents long established kitchen retail business Appliances 2 Go.

Initially Dreamscape Solutions won a highly competitive two-stage pitch process to work on Gentry Grooming’s new online campaign. The new client was so impressed they immediately passed the agency’s details to Appliances 2 Go who in turn signed up the Manchester based digital media experts.

Bernard McCabe, MD of Dreamscape Solutions will also be teaming up with his old friend Jon Raduch of The Graphics Department, who currently works with Gentry Grooming on their design work.

Dreamscape Solutions will be providing three main elements of the new online initiative. They will build a top level corporate animated website that will act as a virtual environment for Gentry Grooming’s clients. There will be an online shop for the specialist men’s grooming own branded product range. A search marketing and pay per click campaign will also be implemented to increase online traffic.

Gentry Grooming is currently franchising its brand across the UK. Dreamscape will be providing every franchisee with an online portal. There will initially be three portals, with that number rising to double figures by the end of the year.

Dreamscape Solutions will also be working with Adele Lock’s mother Susan who runs Appliances 2 Go, with her husband Alan, from its Chorlton head office. The company, established 30 years ago, now runs several retail outlets as part of the A&S Group and specialises in kitchen appliances.

Dreamscape Solutions will be managing their online presence, providing strategic guidance and conducting an online search marketing campaign. A website revamp is planned for later in the year.

Adele Lock founder of the Gentry Grooming Company explains why Dreamscape Solutions stood out: “Bernard McCabe and his team are immensely passionate, highly professional and display an attractive and forward thinking design style that reflects our own brand and approach to business.”

Bernard McCabe, MD of Dreamscape Solutions: “It is the perfect win for us. Gentry Grooming is a growing, exciting premium Manchester brand – a brand we want to be closely associated with and one that reflects our entrepreneurial outlook.”

McCabe continues: “We win a lot of business through recommendation and it is by far the best way to grow. It is even better if you have been recommended by a family member.”

Any Dream Will Do

PRESS RELEASE: YEM Magazine | February 2007 Edition

Bernard McCabe runs the super slick Manchester-based creative digital media company Dreamscape Solutions, and talks exclusively to YEM about how he got involved.

Suitably for a digital media company, Bernard has a fantastic website, with streaming audio and graphics, great branding and simple accessibility. If this digital interface was to be your first acquaintance with Dreamscape Solutions, then it is certainly a promising start.
“I used to be the head of the creative design department for a large e-learning company. This meant that I was responsible for the innovative success of multi million pound projects. I was in the e-learning market for roughly five years and felt I needed a change; the confidence I had gained from working with renowned blue-chip customers made me feel that I had the ability and knowledge to provide a service of true value to customers, so I set up my company five years ago.”
Website design relies not only on an expert technical intuition and a creative mind, but also requires the ability to enter into the heart of the client’s vision, which can often be a deeply personal process

Bernard has been working solidly since his company’s creation in 2002. In this time he has altered his enterprise from focusing purely on assisting SMEs with their market and business needs.
“After two years we changed focus and decided to exclusively provide online digital solutions. This enabled us to expand out customer range and begin to develop a suite of solutions that were scalable and innovative. Our customers now range from SMEs to global corporate firms”

“We have a clear and distinctive view on how effective online solutions work. The success of our new and innovative approach has shown staggering results. Potential customers are able to understand our services and the benefits it provides within minutes”
“We believe that Dreamscape Solutions will become one of the top three digital media companies working in the North-West region in 2007,” says Bernard confidently. “I see the business turning over a respectable one million per year, focusing primarily on the digital media market place with expansion into niche areas that our competitors will not have taken advantage of.”
Bernard keeps the precise meaning of these cards very close to his chest, and in the highly competitive industry of internet, who can blame him? But with new staff set to start this year, and the proposed move to bigger premises, we might be witnessing the dawning of Bernard’s dreams becoming reality.

And what does he put this success down to?
“Dedication, commitment, determination, energy, charisma, confidence and an unswerving desire to succeed” He also warns others starting out, “Don’t expect any holidays for a few years!”
Dreamscape will certainly prove to be an interesting and exciting prospect to look for in the future.

Networking Manchester Business

Part of our business development strategy for 2007 is to attend an increased number of networking events and to also take part in new online business networking portals. One of the many networking events open to business in Manchester in Networking-4-Business which we have been casually attending since early 2006.

It was only after reviewing our end of year sales reports in late December 2006 that we noticed that by only attending five networking events last year we where able to secure £20,000 worth of business. In addition, through suppliers or marketing and PR services we mat at the event we where also able to secure an additional £15,000 of business from the Merseyside area.

What we most enjoy about attending networking events is meeting new people who are passionate about their hugely varied business types. Not only are you pleased to meet them but you genuinely want to help them succeed. Our business is built on the desire to provide business with a service that helps them to grow. Just as business people are passionate about their companies we too are passionate about providing them with top quality website design services and solutions.

Our advice to any new visitor to Manchester networking events is to ensure that your primary goal is to help others rather than to go along with the intention of a hard sell. By listening to people and then giving what ever advice or help possible you not only win their friendship but you are also able to secure their referral and this is priceless.

Writing effective website content

As our customers know, we have a simple but effective strategy to creating great websites. One of the primary features of our philosophy is ‘Objective Orientation’.

Objective Orientation
is our unique method for directing visitors to the goals of your online business and is a process we apply to our all of our web sites. If a websites content is not written with this in mind then the process of converting visitors into a sale, a lead or an enquiry quickly breaks down.

So what advice is there for writing effective online content? We believe the ago old theory of AIDA is the simplest and most effective way of enticing visitors to find out more or to make a purchase. AIDA stands for:
  • Attention
  • Information
  • Desire
  • Action

The theory is to grab the visitors attention and this stage is by far the most critical moment for websites. Humans use the internet like no other medium, often the user has very little time and uses the internet to make their life simpler. Therefore we estimate that a website has approximately five seconds to secure the visitors time.

Five seconds may not sound like a long time, but if you were to record your own browsing habits then you would find that that is probably the maximum time you give a website to prove that it and its content are what you are after.

Once the user feels that the site contains the products or services they are searching for the website must then provide an in brief overview of information that further secures their attention. This secondary stage goal is to reaffirm the connection to the user, convey the benefits and advantages and to arouse their demographic aspirations.

Third in the process is desire. Content used here should convince the user that they simply must have the product or service immediately. Installing a sense of urgency is also crucial here, the visitor must yearn for the product and have a feeling that if they pause or reconsider, the benefits and advantages of the product will not be available to them whilst others may still benefit.

Once the above three stages have been completed the last stage is to finish the conversion off and to provide the user with a ’Call to action’ or a method of them purchasing the product or service. Call to Actions are often links, enquiry forms, buy now buttons, telephone numbers or shop checkout links.

Office Move Success

After weeks of organising, contract signing, research and hard work Dreamscape Solutions successfully relocated to their new home last weekend. The plan was to close half day on Friday the 2nd and for the business to be fully up and running on Monday 5th. We are all glad to say that the move was carried out with the same decisive organisation that Dreamscape carry out work for clients; time efficient, cost efficient and the outcome is nothing short of fantastic.

It’s not the first time the business has moved. Three years ago the business relocated from Knutsford in Cheshire to the Business Park in Carrington, Manchester. On that occasion the move fell well short of a successful and easy transition. In transit, two hard drivers from development server became damaged and un-readable. Luckily back-ups saved the day but there was a few concerned faces in the office that weekend.

As with any good business, we’ve managed to learn from our experiences and this time the move has proven to be a great success, even giving the team enough time to enjoy a meal and a glass of beer at the local Pizza Hut in Urmston.

The new office space is three times the size of our previous and this will enable the business to grow further and allow us the space to recruit new members to the team. It has also given us space for a meeting area within the office and we are particularly pleased with our “Alan Sugar” desk. The impressive new oval glass desk reminded us of the recent apprentice programme that has been such a success on the television, especially as one of our latest clients is a former contestant on the show.

We had hoped to have an open evening with the usual canapés and glasses of fine wine for our friends and customers but we have been so busy since the move that we simply haven’t had time. Perhaps later this year when we celebrate our 5th birthday party.
